Every musical starts with an overture. This is ours.
In 2025, Bradley McCaw had almost everything he had worked for. But something was missing.
After more than two decades as a performer, songwriter, writer and producer, Bradley had built a career spanning stages, recording studios and audiences around the world. His music had generated more than 50 million streams, his work had reached millions online, and a second rock album was underway.
But the thing he kept coming back to was where it all began: Musical theatre.
Bradley first began writing musicals while touring the world as a member of The Ten Tenors. What started as songs, scenes and ideas developed into an expanding catalogue of original Australian works including BECOMING BILL, A LITTLE PRINCESS, THE OASIS and ANY MOMENT, alongside plays, cabaret works and concert productions.
In 2019, BECOMING BILL received its world premiere at Brisbane Powerhouse. Then COVID changed everything.
Bradley stepped away from producing musical theatre and turned his attention to building the infrastructure around his wider creative career. He established Old Fashioned Records, developed a production studio and released his debut album Worried Minds, while continuing to write, record and develop new work.
But the musicals never went away.
In 2025, Bradley returned to the stage with BRADLEY MCCAW MAKES MUSICALS and PRETTY SONGS — a revue celebrating his first decade of writing original musical theatre. Then, in January 2026, after seven years of development, ANY MOMENT received its pilot production at Brisbane's Pip Theatre.
The audience response confirmed something Bradley had increasingly come to believe: These works needed more than individual productions. They needed a home.
And Australian musical theatre needed more pathways for new work to move from an idea, to development, to production, to an ongoing theatrical life.
And so, OVERTURE THEATRICALS began.
OVERTURE THEATRICALS is an Australian company dedicated to developing, producing and building pathways for original musical theatre.
It brings together the catalogue Bradley has spent more than a decade creating with a larger ambition: to build a sustainable home where new musicals can be developed properly, tested with audiences, produced by exceptional local artists and prepared for a life beyond their first production.
